Submission Deadline:February 7, 2010; 12:00 NOON || CURRENT CONTEST NOW CLOSED!
Hey all! Your co-founder =frogmaster9 speaking! Just wanted to give you guys a big hello and let you know I won poolwater's contest (love those characters of hers she's amazing) and am now the new host!
I also wanted to address the lull we seem to be experiencing since our conversion into a group. At one point we had gotten up to five entries for one round! That was so fantastic, so many people participating makes such a fun and great atmosphere, and makes more people want to write and win and be a part of this fabulous community we are creating.
However, with the exception of a few brave and highly valued individuals, me and Ness (mostly Ness LOL) have been working really hard to keep this thing afloat, entering as much as we can; but this means that we're also hosting, A LOT and while this isn't exactly a bad thing, it also means that there's less people getting a chance to share their stories.
So, I'm going to invite you to do a few things:
(1) Tell people about us! Writers of any kind, shape, or size, even if they're not on dA! Tell them that there is a growing community for story-tellers to exercise their fiction writing and interact with other writers, invite them to make a dA account for the purpose of easily participating in the contest!
(2) Participate yourself! I know life can be busy, but remember, it only takes an hour of your time! Take the time when you see alerts from us to take a look and enter the latest round.
(3) Give constructive criticism! The current round's entries don't fizzle out of existence just because a winner is chosen; critique people's entries, and try to help them become a better writer! Better yet, critique the HOST! Tell them things you like and don't like about their story and characters, offer advice and ideas, just talk to them about what they plan to do with their creations!
(4) Talk to US! Give us your ideas on how we can make this club/group a more engaging, fun place to be! We want you to have fun, and feel included.
Lastly, Nessa and I are working to put together some real simple "basics of writing" type things to address some common issues we've been noticing in people's work. If you have any suggestions for subjects or have something you know you're having trouble with yourself, please let us know!
